Have you ever noticed a change in your child’s behavior when the color or decor of their room has changed? Feng Shui has some ideas about that — let’s take a look.

Here’s some Bad Feng Shui in a model home I recently visited, with the child’s room set up like so:

Bad Feng Shui in a child's bedroom. It’s crowded in here!

This room is packed with animals. I count twelve stuffed animals (I might have missed a few), plus painted animals on furniture and wall hangings, animals in the curtains and bed linens, and animal prints on the easy chair!

The giant giraffe alone is nightmarish.

Don’t get me wrong, stuffed animals are wonderful companions, but in Feng Shui it’s key that a child’s room feel safe, private, and roomy. This child may well feel differently.

Here’s a very different, equally disturbing way to go:

The vibrant primary colors here make great sense for a playroom where activity is encouraged, but in the bedroom a quieter mood needs to prevail to encourage rest and relaxation.

Softer Yin shades create a wonderful bedroom environment for a child. Good Feng Shui colors for a child’s bedroom include soft green to encourage growth and development and soft yellow for a sense of stability and groundedness.

What do you think? What changes have you you noticed when your child’s room decor has changed?
