Customer Rating: Summary: Anthologies R Us Comment: This is more of a 3.5 star rating. All three of the stories are by favorite authors but in terms of personal preference, I liked the first story the best. I won't rehash the plot, suffice it to say the hero is endearing and the heroine is smart and resourceful. Now here's the real nice thing about anthologies such as this one; it's easy to keep the book in your car and read the stories while waiting for the school pick up line to move along. That's the beauty of short stories. Easy to pick up or put down when time allows. The down-side to anthologies such as this is the fact that the characters are not fully fleshed out and the plots may have holes...but hey, this ain't Faulkner folks!
Customer Rating: Summary: One of the better antholgies Comment: I like to read anthologies every now and then in between books and this collection is defiantly one of the better collections.
The first novella is Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair and is IMHO the weakest one of the three stories in this book - and that says a lot because I would rate it with 4 stars
Elizabeth Goodall is a doctor in a small town in Montana and is being kidnapped by some terrorists while being on a seminar in South Africa. Sam Pelton is an instructor for a counterterrorist organization (I'm guessing T-FLAC) and lives in the same town as Elizabeth. This is why I didn't like the book too much. Apparently Sam wanted Elizabeth for roughly 2 years and now that she got kidnapped he decides to rescue her and make a move on her. And of course Elizabeth had a crush on him as well . I understand that it's hard to get the whole romance thing across when you only have 100 pages but I feel like being robbed out of the whole chemistry and getting to know each other . Around half of the story revolves around Sam rescuing Elizabeth and fighting off the bad guys which didn't help getting the love story across either. But the story was well written and the hero and the heroine were likeable and it was still better than a lot of other novellas I read before.
The second story is Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh and the best one in this book. It is part of Leigh's Tempting Seal series and stars one of the guys who appears in the previous books: Macey March . Even though he knows and lusts over the heroine Emerson Delany since years as well it is done a lot better than Tropical Heat. The reason is that the rescue plot takes up maybe four pages and the rest of the story is about Em and Macey hiding out in Maceys "cave". Because of that there is much more romance and chemistry going on since the whole action plot takes the backseat. And since it's Lora Leigh writing this book I probably don't have to mention that it's smoking hot!
And last but not least there is Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard. This story is about Elena Martinez, a D.A. and Seth King, a police officer, who go on a charity hiking tour through the Grand Canyon together. I liked this story because Seth and Elena knew each other before but they didn't like each other . During the hike they see a different site of each other and decide that they can't live without each other. Ok granted, that came a little abrupt but it still worked. Of course there is also a villain in this story as well. Seth and Elena helped convicting the son of a drug lord who died later in prison. So now the drug lord is out there to get them and the hike is his perfect opportunity. The action in this book is pretty well written but sometimes a little over the top (all Im going to say is Rock and Helicopter) .
Customer Rating: Summary: Rescue Me Comment: "Tropical Heat" by Cherry Adair
Dr. Elizabeth Goodall has been kidnapped by a ruthless killer. When he finds out he has captured the wrong Doctor, there is going to be hell to pay, but not if Sam Pelton can get to her first. At home in Montana, Beth is the town's Doctor and Sam is a teacher. The Sam that shows up in the jungle, toting a machine gun and obviously comfortable in his surroundings, leaves Beth baffled. She's harbored a not so secret crush on Sam. Because he never responded to her Beth assumed he wasn't interested, a few stolen kisses in the jungle have her wondering about his interest now though. Sam intends to save Beth then make her his. He's waited a long time for Beth and he's not going to let a madman take her away from him.
"Tropical Heat" combines three things perfectly: a sensual romance, a gripping storyline, and thrilling action. I loved the relationship between Sam and Beth. They were friends who became lovers. Their relationship evolves in a beautiful but deadly jungle surrounding. The evil villain gets it great in the end in "Tropical Heat" I love how that scene plays out. "Tropical Heat" is a story filled with danger, hot sex and true love.
"Atlanta Heat" by Lora Leigh
Emerson Delaney is the goddaughter of Admiral Samuel Holloran. Mason "Macey" March is a Navy SEAL under Admiral Holloran's command; therefore, as much as Macey wants her, Em is off limits to him. When she's kidnapped though, he goes straight for her and now, he's not letting go. There not out of the woods yet though, someone they trust has been a bad guy all along and now he's got his sights set on killing Em.
Macey is a man on a mission in "Atlanta Heat" Besides keeping Em safe, he has every intention of making her his. He's a really tough guy who melts at Em's feet. It's adorable and romantic. Em is like the girl next door but with attitude. "Atlanta Heat" is full of great action and hot sex but when the story shifts briefly to Macey's pet's perspective I thought it was a little odd.
"Desert Heat" by Cindy Gerard
Assistant District Attorney Elena Martinez and Detective Seth King are in the Grand Canyon on a charity hike. They don't get along, or rather, didn't get along, until their time together in the desert brings them closer than they've ever been. Just as things between them are heating up though, one of their cases comes back to haunt them. They were being hunted, but in order to get out alive they'll have to become the hunters.
"Desert Heat" is full of good stuff. A good story, a sexy hero and a tough heroine make each page exciting. Seth and Elena have great chemistry. Even when they are at odds you can feel a connection between them. Whether they're running for their lives, fighting bad guys, or on a desk, they are perfect together. "Desert Heat" is an excellent action-filled romance.
Rescue Me has three exciting stories with sexy men, sassy women, and enough thrills, action and hot sex to satisfy any romantic suspense lover. Cherry Adair, Lora Leigh, and Cindy Gerard join forces to pen an anthology that really turns up the heat!

Customer Rating: Summary: Two out of three Comment: I won't go into the plots as it's been done. Tropical Heat and Desert Heat were 5's. But Atlanta Heat was a 3.
There wasn't much of a plot to it, just Macey and Em lusting after each other, explicit sex and misunderstandings; Macey telling Em he loves her, repeatedly, she doesn't believe him. I've read Lora Leigh before and she's very good, just not this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cindy Gerard was my favorite Comment: I picked up this anthology because of Lora Leigh and Cherry Adair. I've never read anything by Cherry but I've heard good things and I've read one Breed book by Lora and know her to be one of the reigning queens of smut. When I read Rescue Me, I was kind of eh about the first two stories though but I kept going just to say I finished it and am so glad I did! I loved Cindy Gerard novella, Desert Heat and would recommend it for her story alone.
Cherry Adair's Tropical Heat:
I liked it. It starts right away with Dr. Elizabeth Goodall held prisoner by a group of African militants. She is being 'asked' to surgically alter the face of wanted terrorist and unfortunately for her, they have the wrong doctor. She decides to brazen it out, hoping for rescue and it comes in the form of Sam Pelton, a teacher from her town who kissed her and left her months ago. What the heck is a teacher from the town of Brandon, Montana doing deep in the Congo, coming to her rescue? Luckily for her Sam is a teacher, a tactical instructor specializing in special ops in weaponry for high risk environments and he's loved her from afar for over a year, patiently waiting for her to be ready for him. Now that he's almost lost her, he's determined not to waste a single moment without her.
I liked this story. It was certainly fast paced and had an interesting change of scenery, being deep in the Congo. Unfortunately that came part and parcel with the jungle atmosphere and all the bugs. In fact both Beth and Sam are covered in bug spray and I just found that to be a downer. Yuck. Not romantic. Especially considering the two are running for their lives from a well known sadistic warlord this just didn't seem the setting for a romantic interlude. But I liked it. It's a nice introduction to what this author is capable of.
Lora Leigh's Atlanta Heat:
I've never read Lora's Navy Seals before. I realized this was part of a series when I read about some happenings that had occurred earlier but it wasn't anything crucial. I followed this story quite easily.
Emerson Delaney is the goddaughter of Macey March's commanding officer, Admiral Holloran. He's been mooning over her for the last two years. This isn't a case of lust, Macey March knows Emerson Delaney is the one. She's the one who could slip that ring on his finger and make him like it. So he stays away from her, until her constant presence wears him down and he snaps and kisses her passionately, right in front of the Admiral. It jumps to a month later and Em is kidnapped by a gang of terrorists and the Admiral has ordered Macey to bring her back and hide her until the person betraying the Seals is found. Macey chooses his home which has a safehouse deep underground as the hiding place.
This places our hero and heroine into close proximity with each other and forces them to confront their desire for each other. The sex was okay. I didn't think it was on par with Breed sex, but I guess even a Navy Seal can't compare with animal DNA. This story was okay. I found it kind of boring to be honest. Because they were stuck underground for awhile, they didn't do anything. She avoided him for a length of time too, since she was hiding from him and her feelings for him. We were told more about their romance then actualy see it unfold. There was a rather weird supporting character in Macey's pet anaconda, Drack. Drack injected some needed humor to the story but then it got strange when Lora wrote a bit from the snake's POV. That kind of squicked me out. Luckily I've read Megan's Mark from Lora Leigh's Breed series so I know that she can really write a sexy story and not to judge her by this.
Cindy Gerard's Desert Heat:
This starts with Assistant DA Elena Martinez and police detective Seth King competing in a charity scavenger hunt through the Arizona canyons. Elena had been threatened by a family member of a man she had prosecuted and the isolation and dangerous terrain of the canyon is a perfect setting for the bad guys to kill her.
I really liked this story. I wished this could have been a full length novel. Cindy Gerard could have really stretched it out, added a few twists and turns and I would have loved it. This story was so exciting and had such a brisk pace. Both Seth and Elena were well fleshed out characters and their romance worked in the story. When they finally have sex, it's a celebration of life and passion and was steamy for that alone. Elena isn't some TSTL heroine nor is she a perfect Mary Sue, able to take down all the bad guys. Nor is Seth some super strong male, able to vanquish all in his path. He actually spends some time woozy in the book, proving that a well placed kick in the head can bring down even the toughest alpha male. I loved the ending of this story as well. It was so cute! I can't wait to read more by Cindy Gerard.
