Jodi Picoult, bestselling author of My Sister's Keeper and The Tenth Circle, pens her most riveting book yet, with a startling and poignant story about the devastating aftermath of a small-town tragedy. Sterling is an ordinary New Hampshire town where nothing ever happens--until the day its complacency is shattered by an act of violence. Josie Cormier, the daughter of the judge sitting on the case, should be the state's best witness, but she can't remember what happened before her very own eyes--or can she? As the trial progresses, fault lines between the high school and the adult community begin to show--destroying the closest of friendships and families. Nineteen Minutes asks what it means to be different in our society, who has the right to judge someone else, and whether anyone is ever really who they seem to be.

Customer Rating: Summary: Brilliant Book Comment: This was the first book i've read by jodi Picoult and i loved it! The setting is in New Hampshire, where i have traveled to. I was familiar with the atmosphere so i could easily place the imagery in my head.
At first i was a little worried that i wouldn't be able to understand all of the law terms, but i was carefully explained. I, too, liked the idea of using flashbacks, it helped me understand the character but showing how they might have reacted in certain situations. Also, if you were insightful, you can pick out little details and analyze them to help fit into the "present".
Each character was well thought-out, and very intracate with a detailed backround, so it wasn't necessarily easy to figure out their role in the murder.
I like how Josie was kind of a recluse all through the trail, and she has to sort through her own issues. You probably won't understand them until you reach the end, but it definitely shows how people reacted the way they did or how they recovered to certain injuries...
Peter, on the other hand, frustrated me throughout the whole book. I just want to know WHY?, he never directly states it, though. His past experiences make him who he is and why he caused this epidemic and broke many people in more ways than just one.
Before i finished the book, i found out that Jodi P. likes to add an unexpected endings, so when i was near the end i started plotting crazy ideas and scenerios that would eventually pan out. I think i had two major ideas in my mind and one of them i instantly was able to cross out. The other, well, i can say it somewhat came to fruition, but, you'll have to read this book to figure it out!
Happy Reading :-D

Customer Rating: Summary: Love it! Comment: I've known Jodi Picoult since i read "The sister's keeper". So I've become a fan of her.
Be honest, I'm reading this book "Nineteen minutes", not finished but I couldn't put down this book. It makes me shocking when I'm reading, maybe it tells us it's a true story, would be happen in some countries also, and in fact some couples are ready to be parents, i think must read this book first. Maybe learn more from this book. Your kids are "YOU".
Comment of this book: Must own! Must read! Excellent!
Customer Rating: Summary: Love PICOULT Comment: But this isn't one of her best books. This company has great values, though...and the condition of even the used books is great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Absolutely stunning! Comment: This book took my breath away. I have also read the Tenth Circle which I loved, but this book was amazing. Jodi Picoult manages to keep you interested page after page.
Customer Rating: Summary: Jodi Picoult Book Lover Comment: 19 Minutes is a well written, interesting and thought provoking book.
It took me a little while to really get into it but, once I was there I couldn't put it down. And there certainly was much food for thought. This book makes you question the values, perhaps, we may pass on to our children. A question that stays with you long after you have finished the final page.
I definitely recommend "19 Minutes" to anyone and everyone.
