Huck and Lowly want to go to the beach, but Huck's mother asks them to take some homemade cookies to their new neighbors across the street. Mom also suggests the boys make friends with the new family's little girl, but Huck and Lowly just want to hit the sand. Little do they know that the interesting girl they encounter and invite along, Cassie, is the very one they're avoiding. Also included is "Couscous in the Sahara." A recurring Scarry character, a French detective named Couscous, tries to capture Pepe the Gangster after he escapes from prison and attempts a heist. The best tale is "Sergeant Murphy's Deputy," in which an overzealous, fresh-from-the-academy police officer is so eager to distribute tickets for minor infractions that she erases all of Murphy's goodwill in the community. --Tom Keogh
