Comment: The Flowtron Model BK15D is ideal for the typical backyard. The vertical electric grill is self cleaning. I also have a competitor's electronic insect killer and it has a mesh grill that I have to clean every two weeks. I will be purchasing another Flowtron for my other home that I go to on the weekends.

Summary: Does not kill flys
Comment: I have tried this for over 3 weeks now. It kills just about any flying insects except flys. I am somewhat disappointed because flys is the main problem I have.

Comment: I've had this maybe for over a month. I use it in the living room where I leave it on once I see flies in the house.

Around evening, when sunlight doesn't pierce through the curtains, the flies finally see the flowtron bulb and fly into it.

Often, the fly is just stunned after the first run-in, but that's good enough because eventually it dies on the floor.

Now, to be fair, this looks like it's made primarily for outdoors, but when using indoors, it works ok, but the constant and steady humming from the electricity is a bit annoying, so I only turn it on for a few hours a day.

When a fly gets zapped, it's loud, but who cares when it's killing so many flies?

Overall, I'm happy with this product.

However, trying to be a conscientious person who wants to make sure that unreasonable amount of energy isn't being used, I emailed the customer service, and after weeks and weeks, no response.

I just want to know the wattage of not just the bulb, but the zapper as well.

If they're lax on these customer service issues, I can only imagine other aspects of their post-sales support might need some work.

Summary: Mosquito Wars
Comment: We live within 30 feet of a north Florida wetland and we were besieged by mosquitos especially after tropical storm 'Fay'. After a lot of research,I ordered this product. I have found it very effective in 'moving' the bugs away from my patio deck and where people congregate. You can't 'Zap' them all and there are always stragglers so keep it away from people!! I can now go out on my patio 'bug free',but I don't go near the Flowtron (w/octenol) unless I want to be bitten. I have tried running it all night and I found it coated with dead mosquitos-thousands. My patio is now mosquito free. On the patio and within 60 feet of the Flowtron is another collection device - a Dynatrap which I later placed to catch stragglers. But the biggest collector by far is the Flowtron. Placing the traps 60 feet apart has been highly effective with the Dynatrap being within 10 feet of the patio, and the Flowtron w/octenol 50 feet away. Octenol is a great mosquito lure and also used in county mosquito control traps.
