These long-lasting extra stoppers are designed to work with the vacuum-style pump (sold separately) to keep a wine fresh. Made of high-quality rubber, they won't affect the taste of the wine. And the method is simple--just place a stopper in the opening of a bottle, place the pump over the stopper, and pump air out until you feel some resistance. Summary: New design corks work with old design pump.
Comment: When shopping for these replacement corks, I was trying to find a review to confirm that the new style corks work with the old style pump. I took the chance that they would, and happily found that the new design corks work with old design pump.

Summary: Works with the Vacu-Vin Pump
Comment: These are great! However you NEED the VacuVin PUMP to make them use. Don't try to use them without the pump as they will not stay in secure, and will not keep your wine fresh. You're better off using a piece of plastic over the bottle if then to just try ordering these corks without first having the pump.

With the pump these work great and are necessary as extras. Just make sure you take them apart and wash them in hot soapy water before using.

Also, both times I ordered these extras they came in a plastic zip lock bag with an amazon label. So I think Amazon must get a batch of them in and seperate them by hand.

Comment: The Vacu Vin system is the best available. Pay attention the next time you're in a bar--they're using these, too! My husband doesn't like wine and these stoppers enable me to have a glass when I want it without feeling compelled to chug the entire bottle at once. :)
