Summary: The most detailed magazine
Comment: Blue & Gray is the best magazine for the experienced Civil War buff! They have the most in-depth coverage of any magazine. They are willing to commit multiple issues to present detailed campaign and battle studies complete with multiple maps. This combination of detailed history and sequential maps presents the reader with an outstanding learning experience. The campaign or battle usually includes a driving tour allowing the reader to follow the action on the ground. Their writers are first rate having both the knowledge and the writing skills to produce detailed readable history.
Having sung their praises, I will say this is not a magazine for the novice. If you are new to the Civil War, North & South is an excellent magazine to start with. If you are looking for in-depth studies, walking and/or driving tours, great maps and pictures showing the area, this is the magazine you want to buy. One other thing, these are some of the nicest people you will ever deal with. I have had very few problems as both a subscriber and purchaser of items. Whenever one occurred, the matter was always handled quickly, politely and I was totally satisfied.

Summary: Great read!!!
Comment: Whether you're an armchair historian, a CW buff, or a professional historian, you'll find something good in Blue and Gray. The features on battlefield tours are the best available for tourists. Of course the writers give exciting, in-depth and accurate reporting on the battles, but there's more; examinations of both the famous and ordinary soldiers who took part in America's worst conflict. Heritage preservation is also covered, and The General's Bookstore, also run by Blue and Gray, offers a treasure catalog of books, some of which aren't available anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Summary: Excellent Magazine for the Money!
Comment: Periodically since its inception in the early 1980s, I have been a subscriber of the Blue and Gray Magazine and have thoroughly enjoyed several editions. While each magazine has other articles, the theme is on a particular event of the Civil War, usually a battle (Gettysburg, Antietam, etc.), raid (Jeb Stuart's ride around the Union Army in 1862), or some other type of event.
The articles are well-written by highly reputable authors and the magazine contains modern-day tours of the edition's particular focus. While many of the largest battles have been addressed in the magazine, several other smaller battles and skirmishes have also been mentioned.
The reader will also benefit from the book reviews, advertisements, updates to Civil War Preservation, and other topics.
Subscribe, read, and enjoy!
