Summary: good but not amazing
Comment: I use it after working out in the gym's showers and it's not bad but it doesn't remove makeup very well, I love philosophy products but this is not their best one, if its name is purity it should be a little stronger and with a fresher minty scent for instance, well that's what I imagine when I think about that word...

Summary: Didn't work out for me...
Comment: I don't have a bad issue with my skin, but I wanted to make my skin better... but Philosophy's product didn't work well for me. It made some of my skin dry, and I ended up with a few more pimples, big and deeper. I really hope it is a "better before it gets worse" deal, but so far, no good.

Summary: Great, Simple Cleanser
Comment: This is a cult-favorite. It's a really simple cleanser with a tad of herbal scent. It really cleans your face well without stripping any oils (My face doesn't feel tight after washing it with Purity). I stray away to other cleansers but always come back to this one. philosophy seems to have reformulated this, however. I've been told that if you don't see "rosewood oil" on the third line of their ingredients list, then it's probably not a good batch. A good bottle should smell really clean and lightly herbal. Some of the bad batches smell like alcohol when you open the bottle. It's a great cleanser, but lately, I've convinced myself that there is no point to pay so much for a face cleanser when Cetaphil works just as well (Purity and Cetaphil are the only two face washes that don't make my eyes itch like crazy)

Summary: Hmmmm....
Comment: I wish I could love this product, but I don't. At the same time, I wish I could hate it so much I'd just throw it away, but I don't want to do that either.

I read so many good reviews about Purity that the first time I used it, I used it with my Clarisonic. Big mistake. My skin became so irritated afterwards that it caused an acne flare up. Purity has some irritating ingredients in it, such as black pepper (of all things...). Therefore most of the time I don't use this thing at all.

However, I have found that it works well for removing makeup. I don't know about the long-lasting types of makeup, but at least it works well for removing powder makeup. So that's a plus...

In short, if you're thinking about buying this, start with the smallest bottle you can find.

Summary: best facial cleanser I have found so far...
Comment: I have been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple for the past five years and love it. I have very sensitive skin and have found this cleanser to literally be the only one I have ever used that did not irritate the heck out of my skin. Plus, I would recommend it for ache prone skin types as well. It is mild yet effective.

With regards to other reviewers having reactions to the product, I can understand where they are coming from- I have had bad reactions to the hope in a jar cream since I am lactose intolerant. That being said, as mentioned in other reviews, check the ingredients. Overall I would highly recommend giving this product a chance.
