Customer Rating: Summary: DO NOT PURCHASE!!!! Comment: I recently became a user of Bare Minerals makeup (foundation and blush) and am highly disappointed in this product.
I am 36 years old and for years had been using liquid foundation. Several months ago, a friend of mine told me about Bare Minerals. On May 14, 2008, I ordered the starter kit on Sephora.com. I received the product in a week or so and started using it immediately. At first, I loved how it looked and felt. I thought it made my face look very "fresh" and it felt very light as if I was wearing no makeup.
After about 3 weeks of use, I noticed some redness and breakouts. As I write this review today, I have a full-blown rash across my forehead, breakouts over my face, and am extremely itchy. I have had this rash for 2 weeks now and it is not going away. I started thinking that I must be having an allergic reaction to something but didn't think that it might be this new makeup. I have been using no other new products, detergents, lotions...etc and have not eaten anything out of the ordinary. I could not figure out what could be causing this terrible reaction.
Then I did some online research and started reading review after review of people with the same reaction! I am stopping use of the product IMMEDIATELY and have contacted Sephora to return the makeup and get a credit. I am disgusted that this makeup is touted as all natural yet has some ingredients (bismuth oxychloride) that can be harmful and cause terrible irritations to some people. I did not see a warning or disclaimer associated with this makeup.
I just typed an email to the CEO, Leslie Blodgett (leslie@bareescentuals.com) asking if she is at all concerned about these allergic reactions due to use of the product that she has helped to create? Does she feel good about selling this to the public?
I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Comment: After using this product for the past year and thinking that maybe I was just aging (I'm only 30) or having some sort of hormonal problem I have now realized that it was this product causing me to breakout, have itchy skin, larger pores, and excessive dry skin that feels like sandpaper in some spots. At first the makeup was fine, but the more I used it the worse it got. I swear this makeup makes you look older as it accenuates every pore, line, and blemish. I spent over $200 on these product trying to match my skintone by buying different shades and mixing them together, which does work, but not at the price of bad skin. Also every color, whether foundation, blush, shadow, etc seems to have some kind of sheer glittery/glimmer effect which looks stupid spread all over your face. I have to say very good marketing on the part of BE I just hope my skin can go back to normal after I discontinue using it. Customer Rating: Summary: Finally, Foundation is Fun! Good for Asian skin tone. Comment: I am really impressed with Bare Mineral foundation. I never used foundations before b/c I didn't like look or feel of foundations. I am 35 y.o. Asian woman and started to notice few sun spots and sun damage to my skin so I wanted something that would last all day since putting on moisturizer in the morning doesn't work all day. I was about to order Bare minerals makeup through their BM website but did not like automatic enrollment where they send you makeup every two months and charge you automatice billing. So I checked out Amazon and thankfully they had it. BTW, I really like Amazon store they have awesome prices and so convient. Also, buying thru amazon, the same product was slightly cheaper.
I watched the DVD and I put the foundation on using their brush, I used "warmth" color on my cheeks, and used the Veil for shine control. I used Tan color because of my asin skin color and plus I have summer tan. I am Very Very pleased with my look. First it looks natural, it really brings out the warmth tone of my skin, and excellent shine control. 2nd, it does not feel like I have makeup on at all. It really enhanced my complexion, color, and great skin. I went for a walk outside in the afternoon during summer, foundation was still on very well and provided excellent sun coverage. My frekles did not pop out. Also, foundation did not fall on the lines of face, I felt I looked younger and radiant. It allowed my eye makeup and eye brow makeup to go on easier and smoother.
I would recommend putting on moisturizer prior to foundation. But wait few minutes before putting on foundation after moisurizing. I use Olay complete moisturizer for sensitive skin with SPF15.
Now I will be using BM foundation daily. It is fun to put it on! Customer Rating: Summary: Perfection! Comment: I cannot stand the feel of liquid makeup but tolerated it for years. I never found any that had the right color and/or coverage, lasting wear, etc. Finally, after watching BE on QVC for years decided to give it a try. It is the BEST ever! I couldn't believe it! Where I want a bit more coverage, such as my dark circles or larger pores around my nose area, I apply some foundation with my finger then I use the swirl, tap, and buff method over that and finish with the Mineral Veil powder. It lasts beyond an entire work day for me! If you do perspire it will become whitish where it gets wet but just dab with a cloth or paper towel and it immediately goes back to perfect! No streaks etc. as long as you pat over it. In the fall and winter I really don't have to worry about that. Anyway if you've been on the fence just give it a try. I know no one product works for every person but for me this has been the answer! The prices on QVC are terrific and you can get auto delivery as well. They also have special kits that are not available anywhere else as well as easy pay on many of them. I don't work for QVC, just a very satisfied customer!
