Summary: Added and convenient protection for your home
Comment: As a do-it-yourselfer I appreciate the ease of which it took to switch out my old detectors. The detectors I received were sent directly to my home within a couple of days and had new date codes. As a firefighter I appreciate the dual sensor feature which provides my family added protection from all types of fires. The hush feature is also an added bonus to prevent the tempatation of disconnecting the detector when dinner gets a little over cooked.

Summary: Much better than my old one
Comment: I have two wired smoke detectors in the hallways and battery detectors in the bedrooms. I like the "hush" button and the quick release connector for the power.

Basically, the same comments as I made for the battery-only version:

Even though there are many, many types of smoke detectors available, there really isn't much choice. Literature on fire safety says to get one that has both the ionization feature and the photoelectric feature. You see many that only have one feature or they combine it with a carbon monoxide detector. Get a smoke detector that focuses on its job. Get a separate carbon monoxide detector and locate it down at your level instead of high on a ceiling.

The alarm is nice and loud, which I need. I wish it could wirelessly activate the other alarms when it goes off. You have to remove the smoke detector to change the battery, but that is very easy to do.

Don't forget to mark on your long term calendar to replace it in 8-10 years. The ionization feature may not work after that.

Summary: Great Detector, Impossible to Find in Stores
Comment: Fantastic product, and it was absolutely impossible to find this model in stores. I really like the dual protection against flash fires and smoldering fires, and I especially like the interconnection feature--I have interconnections across three floors. Units that were shipped were brand-new manufacture dates, less than a few months old. Very pleased both with the detectors and the folks that shipped them to me.

Summary: Random False Alarms
Comment: Purchased in April of 2007 and the six units worked fine until a few months ago. Now they randomly go off at various times for no apparent reason. In checking on Amazon I see where other Kidde units have had this problem and some are rated very poorly for that reason.

Summary: great for safety
Comment: This unit will detect slow or fast fires. Here is what I did in our house... Our Bedroom, Daughters bedroom and top of the stairs we have the regular detector with a light to help us see to get out. Our spare room at the top of the stairs has a regular detector that also has the wireless feature but also hardwires in to all the others. In our bathroom we have a plug in wireless fire alarm. It gets the signal from the one in the spare room if ANY of our detectors goes off. It makes a verbal announcement that there is a fire. It is very loud and can easily be heard if you are in the shower even with a radio on. In the office at the top of the stairs we have this dual sensor alarm so if either type of fire is detected all alarms will go off. Lastly in the hallway at the bottom of our stairs we have a detector that does smoke and carbon monoxide. If it detects either it will set off all alarms including the one in the bathroom. I feel like we are covered in everyway possible. I feel all of these are much better than what was installed when we built the house 7 years ago. My father was a firefighter for 25 years and we live in a town that relies only on volunteers so I take these detectors very seriously. We have also had a very scary false alarm at 2am before. I can not imagine actually having your house burn down, the false alarm was terrifying enough. But if something terrible was to happen I want every chance to get my family out safe.
