The USB to parallel converter cable allows Winterm customers the ability to attach legacy port peripherals to simple and powerful small-footprint USB products. The parallel converter cable supports Centronics standard printers.

Customer Rating: Summary: Not 6-foot; installation CD not readable; just doesn't work Comment: You might as well consider this product a 50-50 gamble, considering that half of the reviews rate 1 star, and half rate 5 stars. For me, it just didn't ever work. For you, random shopper, the effective cost of this gamble on the Sabrent cable is $8.99/50%, or $17.98. I'll write off the $8.95 (free shipping) and try again with another product. By the way, the cable I received is only 4 feet 10 inches. Customer Rating: Summary: What a Bargin Comment: Upgrading to a system that had no Centronics Interface was a bummer. Then I went to Amazon and found this cable.
It was 1/3rd the price of all the others that I saw AND with PRIME shipping it was a REAL bargin.
John in Chapel Hill, NC Customer Rating: Summary: Did not work: usb printer to parallel port on laptop. Comment: The cable did not work when connecting a usb printer to a parallel laptop port under Windows 95. Maybe it would work for a parallel printer to a usb laptop port under Windows 95, but that was not what I bought it for. Customer Rating: Summary: Works with iMac Comment: Package says nothing about compatibility with mac, but when I installed it between my 8-year-old HP Laserjet and my two-week-old iMac (OS 10.5), there was no problem. No software was needed for installation or use, or if there was, my Mac did it automatically. Cable comes with a 3-inch laser disc that was not needed, and probably would have got stuck in my disc drive if I had been dumb enough to try it. Customer Rating: Summary: NEVER buy this. Junk in a box. Comment: I purchased this because a few of the reviews said it "worked out of the box". I'm on XP. It simply does NOT work at all. The packaging says a 6' cable; it's around 4'. It says Windows XP compatible -- not even close. If they meant to say that with their cable you will receive "unknown device" messages from the USB controller then it sure is compatible. The packaging says "Fully compatible with all parallel printers". I have a Lexmark 3200 Parallel printer; it doesn't work.
Read ALL the reviews and you will see what I mean. I wish I had read them all! The drivers are for Pre-XP systems. The documentation is in broken English and is lame. I will never purchase anything from Sabrent because of their obvious false advertising on this product.
I wish I could find a "Contact Us" for Amazon and ask them why they are selling a falsely marked product but alas, I could not find such a link. I thought about returning this purchase but the shipping costs Amazon would charge me would be about the same as the cost of this "printer cable".
