Editorial Reviews:

Stubbs The Zombie lets you become a man whose luck was so bad, dying was the best thing that everhappened to him. In 1933, Edward Stubblefield was a traveling salesman, trying to survive the Great Depression, when he was murdered&buried in a field in Pennsylvania. Fast forward to 1959, when billionaire playboy Andrew Monday builds his own ultramodern city - Punchbowl, where you can "drink your fill of the future". Unfortunately, he built it on the grave of "Stubbs", bringing him back as a angry zombie. Stubbs was a loser all his life, and being a zombie gives him power he never had before. He decides to keep eating brains until the city is his -- unless Andrew Monday can stop him.

Summary: Not bad, not great.
Comment: Think of it as Grand Theft Auto, but as zombies - - it's a amusing game but not anything spectacular.

Summary: Brain-eating fun!
Comment: The Pros...
A lot of fun, a lot of humor, and short enough where you can enjoy casual gaming.

The Cons...
Doesn't take advantage of the various gameplay mechanics (which are awesome), and I could say that it's too short, however the gameplay gets so repetitive, you wouldn't want it any longer.

Anyone looking for cool little extras won't find them here. Just a straight-up fun game for a few hours, and that's it.

Summary: Doing the Zombie Shuffle...
Comment: Stubbs is a decent game but definitely has a few problems. Basically, you control Stubbs, who of course as the name suggests, is a zombie. The graphics are good although there are some slight pixel problems here and there. Controls are easy to learn and the game uses the halo engine, which essentially eliminates the typical camera problems. The music can become a bit repetitive but I tend to tune it out anyway. Voice acting, is also decent although hearing "brains, brains" over and over does get a bit tiresome. Basically a platform game, you do get expansive areas to search but there is nothing to find. The slow pace, even when Stubbs is supposedly running is also quite irritating. I mean, I understand he is supposed to be a shuffling zombie but it takes forever to get anywhere and really slows the game down. I don't expect him to have a jet pack but come on. When you are able to use a vehicle it's a huge relief (unless it's a tractor which is even slower than Stubbs) because you can finally MOVE.

The game reminds me of 'Destroy all Humans' for a number of reasons: the futuristic yet retro setting and general look of the game, playing the bad guy and purposely killing any human that crosses your path and one other reason: it gets really old fast. While the game isn't bad, it is monotonous. It fails to ever get you really involved and it is basically the same thing over and over. There is a puzzle element in the game, in that you need to know when to pull your own head off and use it as a bowling ball to get through tough areas, or rip your hand off so it can skitter across the room and open a door or possess someone, etc. Unfortunately, you have limited use of these items so it's back to shuffling along, swiping at the bad guys while they use guns to blow holes in your already mangled body. Again, not a bad game especially if you need some mindless entertainment for about an hour or two. After that, the monotony will probably turn you into a zombie. Pick it up as a rental first as it has a hefty price tag unless you find it on clearance.

Summary: Challenges made the lazy way
Comment: A cool concept falls flat due to it's reliance on checkpoints used to make the game challenging as opposed to creativity. You will have to do the same tasks over and over again simply because you will get killed before you get to the next checkpoint. Overall, this is a very short game, but it is extended to at least twice it's length based solely on repetition. Doesn't seem like there was much effort to put this together after coming up with the overall concept. They just took the Halo engine, turned everyone into zombies, designed a game half the normal length and filled it with checkpoints instead of user saves to make it seem longer.
