Summary: Good, reliable mower depending on your needs
Comment: I purchased this mower in the spring and have used it all summer. It is easy to use and much lighter than any of the push mowers I have owned in the past. All of my previous self-propelled mowers were front wheel drive. The rear wheel drive on this one is refreshing because the nose of the mower doesn't ever drive itself into the ground (though the front is very lightweight, so you sometimes do a small wheelie).

Be aware that this may not be your ideal mower if you have a large lawn. The wheel base is narrow compared to larger, heavier models. So, you will definitely be doing more laps, but you will be doing them in greater comfort.

The reports about the mower not liking to go backwards are also true. However, if you are aware of this, it shouldn't cause you much trouble, just use forward thinking.

When I received my mower, some of the connections at the top of the handle had come undone. I'm pretty handy, so I was able to get them together correctly with some research and effort, but I was on the virge of returning it due to the frustration. It has been solid ever since I put it back together, so I would guess that it was beaten up during shipping.

My mower also has starting problems. I have to prime it far more than I should to get it to start. However, this does not seem to be a common problem, so maybe my end of season maintenance will fix this issue.

After one full season of mowing, I am still happy with my purchase. My last mower was a Craftsman that lasted seven years, and I hope this one will have the same longevity.

Summary: Wished I'd bought it sooner
Comment: I had my old Lawn Boy for 11 years before I bought this one because I was skeptical I could find another Lawn Boy as good as my old one. I was wrong. Very easy to handle up and down my hilly yard which is 1/2 acre. My mower did come fully assembled; all I had to do was adjust the handle. I was lucky because the FedEx guy made sure I was home when he delivered it because he wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged. I'm very pleased.

Summary: Buyer Beware....
Comment: First two times I used the mower, no problems. Next time the mower began to overheat and die after approximately two minutes of run time. After looking up an authorized LawnBoy sales/service shop on the Lawn-Boy website (there's only one in the town where I live), I took the mower in. Picked the mower up a week later and was charged $76 to replace an ignition coil and was told the shop did not honor a warranty unless the mower was purchased there.

I contacted Lawn Boy - at first they told me a Distict Manager would be contacting the local shop (the coil replacement did not fix the problem with the mower by the way). Then they changed their tune and said it's up to each retailer if they want to honor warranty work.

I complained that this is a very misleading business practice, but have been ignored by Lawn-Boy since.

I am outside of the 30 day window, so Amazon will not accept the mower back. Therefore I am stuck with a mower still in the shop and have spent over 20% of the original purchase price for repairs that should have been covered under warranty.

I have learrned my lesson here and will now only purchase mowers with a service center that honors the warranty. Keep in mind this issue is not limited to lawnmowers purchased through Amazon - you may have problems on warranty work for mowers purchased through the big box retailers too.

Summary: Practical Mower
Comment: The mower is extremely easy to use. Only one lever to hold down. The sens-a-speed is effective, simply push the handle and the mower moves. I have notice a subtle difference in the ease of mower movement between turning left vs. right. Basically the left side of the handle is where the actuator is located that senses pressure on the handle to engage the wheel drive. Therefore, when turning to the left the drive sensitivity is not quite the same basically a little more difficult than turning to the right.
Starts well, easy store handle is excellent and my favorite, only one hand needed to remove or replace the bag.

Summary: Mangled Box
Comment: Our new Lawnboy was delivered by UPS in about the time expected. When the UPS driver took the box out of his truck, the box was totally mangled, and parts falling out all over. The UPS driver said if I had any trouble to let "us" know. After UPS left, I started putting the mower together to see if all the parts were there. They were not, so I got on the internet and wasn't quite sure who to report this to. I went on the Amazon site, and after going thru all the steps, it came back with "Item not returnable". That left us wondering how the heck we would be able to use this mower without all the parts there to put it together. So we put in a complaint to UPS. Our driveway, out in the country, has gravel on it, so it is not just a smooth drive. The next day I was walking down the drive, and there lay the parts that I needed in order to put the mower together. They had fallen out of the UPS truck. What luck! A couple of days later, someone with UPS called, and I told him the story. He said that was "exceptional", and hung up. That is all we have heard from anyone. But we are happy with the mower. Our only complaint is that from the very beginning, it doesn't seem to have a real "clean cut" from the blade. Other than that, we are happy with our purchase.
