This system is easy to use with a large digital readout making the timer easy to read and reach. Summary: Controls Internet for Kids
Comment: I bought this timer to control my wireless internet in the house. The kids need to go to sleep sometime and they seemed to play on the computers forever, now the router turns off at 10:00 and is back on for my wife at 5:30. If it is the weekend I just hit the "on/off" button to let them play or talk longer. If I am mad at one for not carring out the trash while absorbed by the internet I just hit the same button and its off until the preset time or I hit the button again. Lovely

Oh! one more thing, the plug is piggy-backed by your appliance plug, so both plugs are at the outlet and the timer cord by itself then extends about 3 feet to allow it to lie on top of my desk, no clutter. Its Great

Summary: Good for lamps but check your appliance first
Comment: As someone else mentioned note that this timer supports TWO-PRONG PLUGS ONLY. Its socket has little tabs to try to keep people from stuffing in a grounded plug and this is what they should do because not properly grounding something that expects to be grounded can be dangerous.

Also of note is that it has a backup battery, which is good, I just wanted to mention as an FYI that it is a single LR44 "watch battery" which is very common. They are expensive in blister packs at strip mall chain electronic stores, but you can get them for a fraction of that price here on Amazon and although not US name brand so far the ones I've tried seem okay for the price.

Comment: This is a great timer. It is easy to setup and use. I bought 4 and plan to buy a few more. The internal battery is great for those power failure times. There is no resetting of time...the battery keeps it current. And it is small and silent.

Comment: I read about using a lamp timer to help one get up in the morning (if one tends to ignore the alarm clock like I do). It works great for that. I love that I have programed it to turn the lamp on in the morning and the evening. The lamp I use it on is a cheap $10 torchiere from a big box store and the mechanism to turn it on is broken such that once the darn light is on for more than a few minutes and heats up, you cannot turn it on or off. Using the lamp timer, I can turn on/off the lamp with a touch of the largest button so having it meant I could still get some utility out of the broken lamp:-) I plan on buying another.
