I am a redhead, cannot wear pinks, so ordered the Nectar - turned out to be bright orange. There doesn't seem to be any other options for me, so I don't think I will order this again. I'm giving it three stars in case the colors will work for someone else, as the stain and gloss are very nice. Customer Rating: Summary: A stain that lasts all day, but the gloss, I can do without Comment: I purchased the cherry color lip stain at a Sephora store being a bit skeptical of it's true colors. I normally don't wear any lipstick because I hate the way lipsticks tend to dry my lips out. A stain seemed like a brilliant solution to my anti-lipstick ways. I love how the stain lasts all day, and even if the color fades, alittle bit always remains at the end of the day when I take my make-up off for the night.
But I have to say, although I love the stain, I hardly used the gloss (used less than 3x's), it was too shiney for me and the lip pumping action I wanted I found in Lip Fusion (clear). I use both products in my daily routine and love it!
I don't know if I'm getting a deal using only the stain part of this duo, not very economical and extremely wasteful, but it's a great product nevertheless. Customer Rating: Summary: way better than expected Comment: This stuff is brilliant; I was expecting a very small amount of stain and an okay color- but the stain side looks to be just as large as the gloss side - and the color is just beautiful; sort of matte pink with very light violet undertones(it appears purpleish on the wand but does not go on that way); It mimicks the natural color of lips- just darker and intensified- without overdoing it; It looks natural, and sheer; It stays on for hours- tastes and smells good- and the gloss works alot better/lasts alot longer than the lip venom (for plumping and conditioning; your lips feel tingly in a minty fresh way instead of a burning way- at least for me -and it's not overly shiny).One coat is perfect and very natural- but you can deepen the color of course with more; And even if you over do it- you can obviously wipe the excess off-but I just let it wear- it softens nicely and evenly.
I am in love with lip stains- see my other reviews- and this is one of my all time favorites b/c of the great(flattering and non- synthetic looking) color(but it could be a bit brighter pink) and the fact that you get a really cool feeling,plumping gloss with it- that's long lasting and not garish. My years of searching are finally over- this stuff along with my second two favorites (bourjois # 2 great precision and staying power on that one(a little bit darker but brighter so it's great)- and urban decay lip envy in "envious" a little bit lighter/pinker- smells and tastes divine) have broken my habit of benetint for good.I am so happy that someone finally got the colors right for stains- these are natural, but lusty: meaning they appear to plump the lip if applied right, they all are sheer, and they look like the capillaries in your lips are dilated (that darker look that you actually see happen when women are... well you know.. :P)
As said in other reviews I'm pale, wear liquid liner and dark lashes- sometimes doing the smokey eye- and these colors are a much better option in my case than a nude lip- they make you look healthier/younger without looking overdone. I have been complimented on my lip color specifically by all different races- and as said before- I think this would be flattering to all skin colors per the natural but deeper hue of lips that this color achieves. Expensive or no, this stuff lasts and you don't have to reapply a million times. I'm planning on ordering more just in case they stop stocking it. Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't work for me... Comment: This stuff didn't work for me. I ordered the pink which didn't suit my skin tone and actually made my lips looks thinner. The gloss is too sticky and didn't seem to plump my lips at all. I believe it's a gamble ordering makeup on-line unless you have already tried the product and are sure of the results you will be getting.
