Customer Rating: Summary: Ok Phone. Shop around and read reviews before buying. Comment: I got this phone after having a Black RAZR (with battery and connectivity issues) and have enjoyed it so far.
Cons
-No voice dial. I still don't understand this...
-Plastic case. Although it's much more durable than a plastic LG phone I had before, they should have sprung for metal.
-The phone end of the charger. I wish everyone would just go to the same charger already. Motorola has figured it out, what is taking everyone else so long?
-Delay in turning on the mini screen on front. You have to hold the volume button down for 3 seconds before the screen is visible. I want to push the button and have it turn on immediately.
-Headphone jack is the same as the charger. Why not just use a standard headphone jack in addition to the charger? It wouldn't have taken up much more room. Can't charge while listening to music AND you have to buy special headphones. That's a real pain.
Pros
-Battery life is great. I've had really good luck with the battery, but I let it get almost completely discharged before I charge it again. I've had 4+ hour phone conversations and the battery was still going strong.
-It's red. Yeah, trivial, but I really like the color.
-Screen. As others have said, the main screen is gorgeous.
-MicroSD card. Great feature, but I can't use it in anything else I own. Both my digital cameras are SD.
All in all, not a bad phone. Could be better.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best phone I ever had Comment: I don't "play games" with my phone, I use it to make phone calls and this is by far the best phone I have ever had. It exceeds all the expectations I had and is even better than my inside lines. Even though I am eligible for an upgrade and I will be gettin a Blackjack for free I will probably continue to use my Sync. I have tried other brand phones but I believe that Samsung makes the best products and will continue using Samsung till I find something better, which I really don't think will happen. My 2 children and my sister have different brands and they have all had problems. In the 2 years I've had my Sync I have never had a dropped call, my battery has never died and I have had not a single complaint.
Love, love. love my Sync. Customer Rating: Summary: they almost got it perfect Comment: I have owned this phone for almost a year. Its a very nice phone, its not too big, not too small. Its decently well-built, sustaining many small drops onto pavement and tile. The screen has an amazing resolution, which is so crisp it almost looks like looking at a picture. 3G is wonderful...it loads streaming videos faster than any other phone I have seen. I also have the laptop connect addition to my plan that allows me to connect my phone to my computer and use the 3G wherever I get signal instead of having to get another device to plug in. The media player is...decent. It supports a good variety of file types, and the software (PC Studio) can convert the song to a type playable by the phone. The camera is very good, as far as mobile phones go. Battery life was acceptable...nothing special but it will get you through the day with average usage
However, when the media player is playing music, the phone slows to a crawl to try and do anything. Typing texts gets laggy, which can sometimes be a nusiance. I have noticed that places where I get low signal strength the media player ends up skipping like a scratched cd for a second or will have pauses in playback on my bluetooth headphones. Whenever the phone changes from 3G to EDGE, it uses an immense amount of processing power from the phone and that uses the battery fast, and it freezes applications and can screw up emails that you are typing. The IM client on the phone never really worked, and would often loose connection and drop messages both ways. It seems that the antenna isn't too good, and it can go from a spot with really strong 3G reception to poor EDGE connection in a distance of 10 feet, even outdoors. Customer Rating: Summary: great phone Comment: i recieved this phone as a refurbished model after 2 sony ericsson phones died on me. i must tell you this phone is really great, i get service everywhere i have at & t which i had in the past and must say they have improved dramically. i get service in elevators, no one i know gets service in an elevator (including those on verizon). the only drawback to this phone is the picture quality, which to me is really not a big deal, thats why i have a camera. i've been due for an upgrade for quite awhile now and i just cant part with this phone. this is the best phone ive had and ive had quite a few. if you get this phone i doubt you will regret it. its that good! Customer Rating: Summary: Reliable; if buying for music, careful of headphones Comment: I use this phone for phone-calling purposes mainly.
Pros:
After 16 months of use, it is still reliable. Battery life holds up pretty well.
The covering over the place to plug in the phone for recharging has not been a problem as for some users; in fact, I like having it covered up to keep out dust when not in use. Then again, I'm rather gentle with things I own.
The size is great. I love the slim thickness dimension yet large size lengthwise. It fits in my front pocket - not always a big pocket in female pants!
Cons:
I bought this phone to use as an MP3 player as well. Unfortunately, the headphone jack is proprietary only, and the earbuds are too large for my small ears. I never ended up using this function as a result.
During phone conversations, volume is a little low, as some people have complained. I turn it up to full volume to hear the person I'm talking with. It hasn't been so much of a problem that I wish I'd bought a different phone though.
The clock does not show on the outside display, making it more difficult to discreetly check the time (must open up the phone).
Overall, I'm glad to have something that's lasting well, as lifetime/reliability is the most important to me for a device.
