The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so you don't have to re-set the clock. Comment: This alarm clock is much better than what I have expected I am very impressed with the settings which makes the old alarm clocks seem like the computers that taken up the whole house. This Alarm clock is a terrific thing to have especially for those who are not technical savvy. "Not saying that I am not a technical savvy person."
