Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it. The Steam Mop's low-profile 360-degree swiveling head accesses hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, like under kitchen cabinets, while its compact profile stores easily in small spaces. Summary: The BEST MOP out there!!!
Comment: My DH got this for me for mothers day this year.. And I can honestly say it is the BEST appliance gift he has ever gotten me... I'm a stickler for clean floors.. When I used the traditional mop and water bucket, I refused to use floor cleaners with chemicals.. Most of the time I just used vineger and hot water... Did the trick, but I had to do 2 water only rinses most times.. We have sealed hardwood floors, and I cant stand streaks on them. Nor waterspots... We have a 18m old son, who would turn the bucket over alot to.. I was getting very tired of cleaning up water messes, while I tried to mop. Now that I have the bissell steam mop I dont have any issues!!! There is NO bucket, and NO Chemicals. I can mop my entire house in less them 20 mins.
Complaints though not really I can manage with these: I imagine someone out there would complain about this. The Cord is short, you can get maybe 1 room done, or even half a room done before you have to change outlets..
I have heard that the microfiber pads replacements are not that great.. Well if you know how to sew, just make your own :) You can use microfiber towels that you can buy for 6.00 bucks for a pack of 10 at walmart... They work just fine.
Note: when washing your pads, DONT put in dryer, they will shrink.. This has not happened to me, but I have heard of it happening.
Once again well worth the money... My floors are always soo clean, and I know if my DS eats something off the floor he is not ingesting chemicals ;)

Summary: Cleaner floors
Comment: After many scrubbings and moppings, my floors just weren't clean enough to suit me. The dirt was ground in and wasn't coming up even with much elbow grease. After one use of the Bissell Steam Cleaner, my floors were much cleaner and shinier. I couldn't believe the difference. There were a few places that I had to redo because the dirt was ground in, but I am more than pleased with the purchase.

Comment: I received the item within 3 days of ordering. Assembly was easy. Plug in & ready to use within couple minutes. Cleaned vinyl floor in kitchen ok. Also used on carpet in foyer, with cleaning pad on, difficult but doable. Did remove surface dirt from carpet. Can also use on carpet w/o pad. Did not notice any excess water on vinyl flooring when using. However, on ceramic tile, noticed excess water. Cord length is adequate, but is used in areas that are adjacent to each other and small in size.
For a small space, room size ~200 sq.ft. can use w/o extension cord. Those who have to use in multiple rooms will have the hassle of plugging & unplugging to use in different rooms. There is no on/off switch, need to unplug to turn off. Also, after removing water tank, need to plugin and use trigger to remove any excess water still in the unit. Like the removeable, washable pad (2). For those whose machine leaves excess water, could use the extra pad to dry the floor. The machine is sturdy and lightweight (w/body) so that you feel you have the power in the machine w/o having to exert extra push to get the job done. Purchased as a goldbox special, so paid a decent price. I would use this unit even w/o electricity/steam.

Comment: Well it arrived and I was excited to try this mop out. I did everything it said to do and my hard floors were soaked after I used this mop so much so that I had to dry all of them using a dry mop. The point was to ease the job of mopping not having to do this 2 times Would not recomend this unless you enyoy mopping your floors twice. I was very disappointed.

It is amazing how quickly floors can get dirty on a daily basis. With a family of five not counting two dogs, my floors see a lot of traffic. Their weekly mopping requires a couple gallons of water and cleaning solution (Mrs. Meyer's) then after all the labor, you have to wait for them to dry.
But, comparable to an iron, this Bissell Steam Mop takes only seconds to get hot using a small amount of electricity. The water reservoir is tiny because it only needs a small amount of water to produce beautifully clean floors. This purchase was quickly justified by the reduction in water and cleaning solutions needed, not to mention the replacement of mopping equipment.
