Customer Rating: Summary: Much needed relief. Comment: I broke the rubber part on our blender while making baby food for my son and was worried that I would have to purchase a new one. Instead my husband ordered this piece and attached it to the blender. The blender is working well and we have an extra rubber piece just in case. Thank goodness Amazon had this availabe. Customer Rating: Summary: KitchenAid Blender Coupler Comment: No problem removing the old coupler. I had an old cheap thin 9/32 open end wrench, it fit nicely under the coupler, used channel locks, turned old coupler clockwise and it came right off. Took me two minutes. Customer Rating: Summary: Great feedback from other purchasers Comment: I really appreciate the feedback given by the previous people. Good info on easy removal of part and its replacement. Thanks Customer Rating: Summary: Improvement, but Order 2 or 3 Comment: This part is an improvement over the 10 or so year old mixer couplers, but it still fails after a few years (but it did last longer than the original). My point is, order 2 or 3 as shipping for me was the same on 1 as it was on 3.
I agree, if you are careful, unplug the blender and you can jam the motor with a small screw driver and use a pair of adjustable pliers to take off the coupler. This is REVERSE threaded, clockwise to loosen.
I decided to fix my Miserable KitchenAid, after reading dozens of other blender reviews and finding them to be even worse. I believe this rubber coupling serves to make the blender quieter, so the design trade off is shorter life for quieter operation. The blender should really come with a tool and a replacement one of these since they are inexpensive. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Money Saver! Comment: Excellent product. I was scared I'd break my Kitchen Aid so I didn't want to try and replace the part myself. However, the cost to fix it was almost as much as a new blender so I figured- if I was buying a new one anyway it wouldn't hurt to invest $6 to try and fix the old. It worked and it was EASY! They even send instructions. Seriously. If you are looking at this product, buy it. You won't regret it. In fact, buy two.
