Summary: WWE Delivers Another Very Solid PPV for 08,
Comment: Most fans will agree that the WWE has been on a roll for the past couple of months in terms of delivering quality PPV events. With exceptions of the Royal Rumble & No Way Out, I have been satisfied with each event since October. Judgment Day was a pleasant surprise as I have been known to be disappointed with the majority of these events.

John Cena vs J.B.L. It's been quite some time since we have seen Cena in an opening contest; to the best of my knowledge since the Great American Bash 2004, but anyways about the match. This is a slow paced ground match for the most part that is dominated by J.B.L. but I will give the match credit due to Cena actually SELLING the offense & J.B.L. displaying a few nice wrestling holds. If you can get past the quick finish, this is a good match & their best since their I-Quit match, ironically three years ago at this event.

WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz vs Kane & CM Punk. I have a confession to make, but I have not enjoyed all of Morrison/Punk matches. They are both very talented but something about their matches doesn't click for me for whatever reason. Anyways, this was a solid tag team match as nobody looked out of place & was able to contribute to the contest including Miz, with the only problem being that this match was too short to turn into something special.

Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho. This was the main reason that I wanted to see this event, even though I was looking forward to Taker/Edge later on in the evening. While this match does not have the emotion of their WrestleMania XIX classic, I enjoyed this one just as much as I enjoyed that previous encounter & it was my favorite match of the night. Everything just felt new & fresh especially with moments of HBK using an Arm-Bar on the ropes or executing an Indian.. oops sorry I mean Native American Deathlock or even Jericho telling the story of "Can he trust HBK?" based off the storyline. Great performance & a nice finish to a great wrestling match that we expected from Michaels & Jericho.

Women's Champion Mickie James vs Melina vs Beth Phoenix. It is great to see WWE pushing the women who can wrestle & in the process give the women's division a chance to redeem themselves. The problem is that this match was too short to become special in it's own way but the effort was clearly shown especially with the highlight of Beth Phoenix pressing both women at the same time.

Vacant World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker vs Edge. It's performances like this that has made the Taker/Edge feud of 2008, the best feud of the year. Similar to their WrestleMania & Backlash classics, this match starts off slow & gets better as the match progresses allowing both men to remain strong throughout the contest while at the same time telling the story of Taker not being able to use his "Omoplata" submission hold to Edge doing what it takes to reclaim the title. The finish is a huge disappointment, even for a great feud & match like this one.

Jeff Hardy vs M.V.P. A bonus match here at Judgment Day starts off after M.V.P. was cutting a promo about not having a match after being the longest United States Champion in WWE history. This match was more of M.V.P. grounding Jeff for the most part until Jeff made a comeback & was able to win the match. And for those paying attention, look closely at Jeff missing the "Whisper in the Wind" but winning the match anyways. Still, great to see Jeff back.

Steel Cage Match: WWE Champion Triple H vs Randy Orton. This was one of those cage matches where it was not a bloody massacre but it did get pretty intense at times, especially when both men were brought in a steel chair to the contest. Some people did not like the whole escape from the cage angle but I think it adds more to the match than just winning by pinfall but we knew how this one was going to end up. Anyways, a good main event & another great performance but it doesn't top their previous encounters.

Overall, this was the most entertaining Judgment Day event that I witnessed since the 2001 edition, which still stands as my favorite one. Honestly, there was not one bad match on the card & while some results were not better than others, the wrestling quality & effort is clearly shown here.

Summary: The 10th Edition Of Judgment Day
Comment: John Cena vs. J.B.L. - Wow, Cena in the opening match of a PPV? That's the first time in almost 4 years. Cena injured his shoulder early the match revolved around J.B.L. just working on Cena's shoulder & his ribs with Cena having to rely on his power. This wasn't a "get the crowd fired up" opener as it had a slow pace to it but if you can get past that & the "out of nowhere" FU finish, this was actually a good match between the two & as I stated, their second best match they've when compared to the other three that I've seen from them (haven't seen the Bash match yet)...with the first one being at this exact same PPV 3 years earlier.

WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz vs. Kane & CM Punk - A short match that was very good mix with all four men putting on good performances with the only draw back being that they weren't given more time.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - Eventhough this match didn't have the emotional story attachment to like their previous one, this match is right up there with their WM19 match in my opinion as they performed such a great wrestling match with each man countering each other's moves & even displaying a couple of rarely seen moves like Jericho's own mix of an indian...oops, I mean "native american" deathlock & a figure four and HBK doing an armbar while hanging over the top to yank the arm down. One heavily athletic contest.

Womens Champion Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina - This match was too short (around 5 mins.) to really turn into anything special but it was a nice match for what it was. The real moment to check out is the double backbreaker on Mickie & Melina by Beth...that was heavily impressive.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Undertaker vs. Edge - Just like their matches at WrestleMania & Backlash, this was a match that just got better as it went on with great wrestling & countering/kicking out of each other's holds back & forth with the story of Undertaker not allowed to use "that choke hold" coming into play during the match. I can say that these two have not had a bad one on one match & this is no exception if you can get past the ending.

Jeff Hardy vs. MVP - Well, we get a bonus match here. For the most part, MVP grounded Jeff from doing his daredevil offense & worked on his arm to the point where Jeff went for a leapfrog out the corner & dropped straight to the floor because of the bad arm. In the end, Jeff gets the win "out of nowhere" with the Wisper In The Wind(that he barely connected with for anyone paying close attention).

Steel Cage Match: WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton - This was one of those steel cages that wasn't a bloody hardcore massacre but still a that got intense at certain moments with a chair even getting involved later on in the bout. Another good match between the two but it doesn't top the earlier matches in their series.

In the end, this was the best overall Judgment Day card since the 2001 edition. There wasn't a real bad match on here, nothing really to skip over, and the only drawbacks being that some matches could have went longer than they did. In the end, this is one you should go out of your way to see based on the inring action that will leave you satisfied & I highly recommend.

John Cena V. JBL
Interesting placement on this card. It didn't seem like this match should be first and it was a little weird seeing Cena in the opener. Good match here with JBL destroying Cena for the whole match so whatever psychology they had made they lost when cena hitting the FU out of nowhere for the win. **1/2 Seems like their WrestleMania 21 match.

WWE Tag Team Championship:
John Morrison & The Miz (Champions) V. CM Punk & Kane
Good match here too. Good wrestling but Punk & Morrison which is weird because their single matches together in 2007 sucked. Anywhere, Morrison and Miz retain in a good match but nothing realy noteworthly here. **3/4. The commentary by Mike Adamle was just horrible. Like "Miz & Morrison won the titles in November and had hold them for 5 months"...WHAT?? Ok, the PPV was hold in May which is the fifth month of the year. But they won them in November, so they actually hold them for seven months at this point. Good adding there Mike. Another awesome line was: "CM Punk with the right hand just kicked Morrison in the head"...WOW...I'm not going to even touch that one.

Shawn Michaels V. Chris Jericho
This was a really good match, but was also disappointing. This match just seemed to be missing something. realy good match with god wreslting and storyline but again was missing something to push it over the top. Michaels wins. ***1/2

Triple Threat Match for thr WWE Women's Championship:
Mickie James (Champion) V. Beth Phoenix V. Melina
Really good womens match here. Good stroy to it and some cool spots. Mickie retains. ***

Vacant World Heavyweight Championship:
Undertaker V. Edge
Very, very good. not as good as WrestleMania, but still good. Cheap finish that fits well with the storyline. Taker wins by countout, but you can't win a Championship by countout or disqualification so, the title is still Vacant. Interesting. ***3/4

MVP V. Jeff Hardy
Bonus match here at Judgment Day and it was good. Just good. Good finish here with Hardy winning. ***1/4

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship:
Triple H (Champion) V. Randy Orton
Better than what people give it credit for but it could ahve been better. Again, very good cage match but the effort just didn't seem to be there. Triple H wins. ***3/4

A Good PPV, but it seemed to be missing something the whole night. The effort just didn't seem to be there. Definitly watchable, but just didn't have that something special to push it over the top to make it special.

Summary: Taker and Edge continue to deliver classics.
Comment: After the great events Mania 24 and Backlash were. I was looking forward to this ppv from the start. Even though some of the matches didn't meet my expectations, I was still satisfied.

John Cena vs. JBL
It would appear someone lied to these two and told them their first encounter was a classic. Because this was nothing more than a rehash of that match. Except JBL actually applied a bit of wrestling. A bit of brawling and wrestling with mostly JBL dominating and then the weak finish. 3/5

WWE Tag Team Title Match
John Morrison & The Miz vs. Kane & CM Punk
A pretty good wrestling match mostly carried by Punk and Morrison. Some really good team work from Miz and Morrison. I really like this team. And the Miz took a pretty sick chokeslam on the floor. My only problem is the weak finish. 3.5/5

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
This is the second reason I was looking forward to this ppv. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho are just great wrestlers. They delivered a pretty good match but don't expect what you saw from Mania XIX. Some really good chemistry with near falls and they didn't reuse what worked before. This encounter felt completely fresh. My only gripe was the ending. I was hoping for some poetic justice because that's the way the match was being built. 4/5

Triple Threat Match for the Women's Title
Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina
I like the way WWE has been pushing their women's division. This match was short but it delivered. Some pretty good spots, quick paced, and Beth shows off her strength a few times. 3.5/5

World Heavyweight Title
Undertaker vs. Edge
The reason I had to see this ppv right here. Taker and Edge delivered another fantastic match for the third time. And just when you think you seen everything. Taker pulls a couple of tricks out the bag. To partially qoute Foley,"Undertaker seems to be finding new twist to old ways." These new twist definitly brought more to the match. They used the same chemistry in this match. Start out slow and build the match up to a good edge of the seat pace. The ending took away somewhat but I still liked it a bit. It just added alot more to the feud. Match of the Night for me. 4.5/5

MVP vs. Jeff Hardy
This match wasn't on the card. MVP came out with a beef about not having a match. Jeff eventually came out and gave him one. This match was ok at best and MVP kept Jeff grounded for a good bit. But I expected more from these two. 3.5/5

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Title
Triple H vs. Randy Orton
I'll start out by saying the escape the cage concept should disappear. I find myself having to turn off my brain a bit too much. Putting that aside. This match just wasn't all that great and could have easily been on RAW. It just didn't have a ppv main event feel to it at all. They exchanged blows a bit and the wrestling was decent at best. The ending was good and all but this match didn't have enough meat on its bones. 3.5/5

The ppv is very solid and alot of these rivalries would continue into One Night Stand. I think this ppv is worth buying. The extras really aren't anything. They contain Jeff Hardy's after match interview. Plus the promo of Chase for the Gold. It doesn't have the match.
