Editorial Reviews:

Your cell phone is your "lifeline." It keeps you connected at work, on the road, even at home. And now, there's a better way to make and receive calls at home with ultimate comfort and convenience. Panasonic Link-to-Cell uses Bluetooth technology to connect your cell calls to your home handset extensions. No more running for your cell, walking around for good reception, or cradling that little phone on your shoulder. Better yet, you get to tap into your free cell minutes for talk time and you can charge your cell while using the home handsets. Now, that's convenience! How Does It Work? Just link any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone to your Link-to-Cell base unit and you're good to go. It's that easy. Set up takes only seconds, and you can link up to two phones at once. Talking Caller-ID lets you know who's calling and custom ring tones tell you which cell phone is ringing.

Summary: The Product I've been Waiting For
Comment: When a coworker first introduced me to this product, I was very excited. I'm been looking for a way to drop my landline without losing the benefits of a household phone.

He warned me that while the product works fine for him, the reviews on Amazon have been scathing. I took my chances and bought it anyways and I've been mostly pleased.

I've not experienced any dropped calls and the system works as advertised. When I get home from work, I drop my cell phone on a counter in the kitchen and when I get calls, it rings the whole house. The unique ring tones (to distinguish between my wife and my own cell phones) and caller ID are great. Perhaps the greatest benefit of that is that I no longer make the mistake of answering the phone when my mother-in-law calls.

Two minor complaints:

1.) User interface is a bit clunky. Using the phones to dial a number is several steps.....dial the number, click 'cell', click which cell. I'm glad that it gives me the option of which phone I'm using, but it just seems like they could have done this in a better way.

2.) Text Messages. I have not heard anyone else complain about this in the reviews, but whenever I received a text message, it rings the Panasonic household phone. Then when you answer the phone, no one is obviously there because it was a text message, and it seems like it was a dropped phone call. I wish the Panasonic phone was smart enough to tell the difference between a text message and a real phone call. This could be the reason a lot of reviewers are complaining about "missed calls". They might just be getting text messages that they are thinking are missed calls.

Summary: another one for the "really wanting this to work but doesn't" team...
Comment: At first the phone worked very well and I was very pleased but...just returned mine today to Best Buy at the 30 day mark as my calls have been dropping as many report. For the most part, my dropped calls were while talking on the main level (base unit is upstairs next to computer). I would call the person back and by the third drop call (30 feet away), I would walk to the base of the stairs hoping for a better connection...another drop. Today I even walked upstairs and sat within 10 feet of the base...another drop. I do not have the patience for this kind of unreliability. Looking at the Vtech phone and maybe the Dect 6.0 Fusion. I need the bluetooth support as my iphone/ATT gets limited service in the house.

Summary: Great product
Comment: Works as advertised ........... only complaint is that you have to answer phone calls on the handsets and not your cell phone .......... at least that is the way it is with our cell phones when they are linked up using Bluetooth ............. other than that - perfect

Summary: So far so good...
Comment: I bought this on impulse then read the reviews about dropped calls. So I've waited about a month and it's still working OK. We have frequent power outages during thunderstorms, and it does drop out instantly even in a momentary power bump. I wish the base had battery backup, and plan to get a UPS. One other problem is that when you answer a call it can take a few seconds to link. So we wait a couple seconds before saying hello. That's partly due to verizon. We have no land line and use it with 2 cell phones, a Moto Krzr K1M and Samsung U740 alias. It links every time. Handsets work 50+ feet even outside. There is an intercom feature between handsets and a handset locator. Ringer is pretty quiet even on highest volume setting. Due to cell phone limitations (time delay and digital audio), this will never equal the quality of an analog land line but if you're 1/2 mile from the nearest phone line like we are, this is the next best thing and a lot cheaper. If I had it to do all over again I would get the GE bluetooth gateway and pretend like I had a real phone line.

Summary: Does what it's supposed to do
Comment: What I like about it is that once you establish the Bluetooth link, a very easy process just like connecting with a headset, the connection is renewed every time your Bluetooth phone comes within range of the base. No, you can't use it with your cell phone and still have a house line free, but you can always just use your cell. The DECT 6.0 system works much better than the old system we replaced, with clear signals all throughout our house. It doesn't have an answering system, but with our cable phone system, that's an easy issue to resolve. The text-to-voice announcement of incoming calls is interesting, often hard to decipher. The handsets look good and the base is unobtrusive. It's a good system.
