Summary: Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Comment: Horrible call quality with FAST and RELIABLE internet connections. False advertising when they state "compatible with most wifi hotspots including t-mobile;" that statement should read "compatible with ONLY 2 hotspot providers worldwide, one in europe ONLY and also t-mobile." Cannot connect to a wifi network with web login. Freezes randomly so that you have to disconnect the battery. Takes upwards of 5 minutes to connect to any given open or preferred secured wifi network. Does not work with a handsfree unit (hardwired or bluetooth). The netgear website is full of it when they say it will work with the motorolla headsets. Cannot SMS?!? I am horrified by my experience with this item.

Summary: No one supports this phone :(
Comment: I set this phone up and was able to make and receive calls except that the micropone would not pick up what I was saying. It was not on mute, silenced, or on speaker. I called netgear about it and they barely knew it existed. Skype said they did not support the hardware. I returned it.

It's a great idea but worthless if it won't work.

Summary: Bad WiFi reception
Comment: 1. Even the manual eludes to the fact that unless you are in direct line of sight and within 50ft of your router, you wont get enough signal to make a call.
2. It uses WEP key encryption, so unless you REALLY know how to setup router encryption dont try setting this up on your own. I prefer MAC filtering, but have to switch it off to use this phone in the house as the manual doesnt mention where to get the MAC ID from and it requests the passphrase (a bizarre term for your WEP key).
3. The unit requires a special headset, none of the headsets in my house work with it. the manual doesnt tell you what you need, I worked this out from other reviewers. The unit is very small and gets very hot, so you have to use a headset. Other reviewers have said that the unit is badly made and doesnt work with headsets at all.
4. The helpdesk is in India and is worse than useless. I will never but Netgear again after that experience.
5. Battery life is really bad and it takes forever to switch on and off.

Summary: Fantastic WiFi Phone
Comment: I have had this phone for about 2 hours now and I think it's great! I put in the battery, powered it up,connected to my wireless network (entering the password was easy) and was making phone calls in 5 minutes. I already had a skype account so this made it a lot easier to get going. Sound quality seems great and connection time is fast. I have not read the "book" yet, that is how easy it is to set this phone up. I was also able to connect to a local hotel nonsecured WiFi network with no problems. Another great NETGEAR Product!!!

Summary: Terrible!
Comment: I bought this phone in hopes all the other reviews on this page were wrong, however this phone is just cheesy! It is terrible sound quality and is made very poorly, I was expecting something more well put together, I decided to send it back! Also you cant chat like Text other skype users, kind of disappointed in that.
